Ever notice how easy it is to spend hours scrolling through everyone else’s lives when you’re not entirely satisfied with your own?
The news, the gossip, the drama, the endless opinions, the perfectly curated vacations, relationships, bodies, homes and highlight reels. 👀
It’s an interesting little trap, isn’t it?
Sometimes we use other people’s business to avoid dealing with our own.
We scroll to fill the silence.
We consume drama to escape our discomfort.
We follow the news to feel occupied.
We gossip to feel connected.
We compare our lives to people we don’t even know.
And before we know it, we’ve spent hours mentally living in someone else’s world while neglecting the one we’re actually responsible for creating.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: Distraction can become a very convenient way to avoid healing.
When we’re unhappy, lonely, disappointed, bored or disconnected from ourselves, it’s tempting to look outward for stimulation rather than inward for answers.
But constantly consuming other people’s problems doesn’t resolve our own pain. It just gives us somewhere else to put our attention.
And attention is energy. Where we repeatedly place it matters.
What if, instead of checking what everyone else is doing, we got curious about what’s happening inside us?
What are we avoiding?
What needs attention?
What are we unhappy with?
What needs to change?
What have we been putting off because facing it feels uncomfortable?
Maybe it’s time to put down the gossip, turn off the noise, step away from the endless scroll and give ourselves a little uninterrupted attention.
Go outside. Move your body. Make something. Learn something. Call someone you love. Sit with your thoughts. Get uncomfortable enough to actually grow.
And please, don’t mistake being informed about everyone else’s life for making progress in your own. 😂
Your life deserves your attention, too.
No judgment. We’ve all fallen into the scroll hole. The invitation is simply to notice when we’re using distraction as medication for something that needs healing.
Less consuming. More creating.
Less comparing. More becoming.
Less noise. More self-awareness.
Now THAT is a frequency upgrade. ⚡️💜
Be a participant in your own life, not a spectator in everybody else’s.
